The year was 2006 when I signed up for Media Temple hosting. I must have been 17, no older than 18 years old. When I was 13 or so I turned our family computer into a web host. At the time, I was unable to go through traditional means of securing a web host since […]
New ‘Spam’ Blog, new Job!
It’s been a while, folks. Some of you are maybe wondering why I stopped freelancing! Back in November of 2010, I got a new job at Schifino Lee Advertising + Branding, as the Interactive Art Director. It has consumed all of my time, and I have worked on projects with clients such as AT&T, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, WellCare Medicare Plans, and Pegasus TransTech. It’s been quite a journey so far and I love it!
So enough of the day job, I wanted to let you all know about my new blog (which is *gasp!* not on WordPress), Beautiful Spam. It features various e-blasts, mostly rendered in gmail or microsoft entourage.
Alison Foxall speaks on WordPress custom theme development at Barcamp Tampa 2010
It was a last minute thing to talk about custom theme development at Barcamp Tampa 2010 this year. The night before I had started on my slides, unsure of what to speak about. Obviously, I was going to speak about the WordPress themeing process, but I didn’t know how. Or where to start. I was nervous, but I felt like I needed to give back to the WordPress and tech community, since after all, Barcamp is free to attend with free food and free beer! Anyways, my slides are on slideshare and were also featured on the Slideshare design home page for like a week
Recent Malware attack on AlisonFoxall.com
Some of you visited my site in the past month and received a notification from either your browser, or your virus protection saying that my site was hosting malware. I thank you all for notifying me immediately of what you all were seeing on my site. Tearing through my website, I discovered that there was an admin user other than myself on my install! But it didn’t stop there, no. My entire grid was infected. Every WordPress install I had on my server, was infected with this attack by “johnnyA.”
See what I see. Daily.
A picture is worth a thousand words, they say. Each day I will be posting a new blog of something I either saw that day, or saw in the past. I will post the date of the picture taken, as well as the place. Look out for a new photo each day! See what I see. Daily. It’s hosted on Posterous, a blogging platform I came across that is free to sign up. Decided to try it out since it’s easy to post right through your e-mail! It’ll be a fun experiment not only to produce, but to see how people interact with it as well.
Rally in Tally ’10
This year, I had the opportunity to go to the annual Rally in Tally for the 4th District. Four of us from our local Ad 2 chapter car-pooled up to Tallahassee to talk to our state senators and representatives about the advertising industry and how important it is to Florida’s economy. We set various appointments; which, surprisingly didn’t take very long to meet with each person. Since there was no specific bill to talk about to our reps, we mostly went to say “Thank you!” We discussed how important advertising fuels Florida’s economy.
